When my son was very young I held to the philosophy that there was no reason to march off to Toys R Us to try and find a plastic version of something in your imagination when you could make it yourself. My favorite medium was cardboard, and I was requested to build jet packs, swords, robots, and an entire western towns for a Lionel train to chug through. I still have a lot of those old cardboard buildings and thought I would try playing with creating porcelain versions of the same. The little half-timber building above has yet to be fired, but you can see what it looks like next to one of my cardboard, hot glue, and Sharpie versions from the past. I love the idea of turning rough concept images into something slightly more permanent, so I will most likely do a few more of these in time.

Love your work, Don...
Hopefully Disney will or has been smart enough to hire you for work on Shanghai Disneyland.
;P
How fantastic, Don! =) You are so very creative. I love these little figurines. You should make some to sell on Etsy. =)
